• No animation

PNG (becoming an increasingly popular replacement for GIF)

• best used for high quality transparent images (especially on a background that is not solid)
• lossless
• fully transparent; smoother edges than GIF
• Browser Compatibility Issues: The easiest way to PNG support in IE6
• millions of colors (doesn't support CMYK)
• No animation
